Sun & Beaches

Some of the best beaches in the world can be found in the Algarve with golden sands and clear waters. The 200km stretch of coast offers endless fun and exploration for families. The calm waters of the East coast and the blue flagged and golden quality awarded beaches of Barril, Tavira, Manta Rota and Altura highlight the quality of the beach and water environments. These beaches are manned by lifeguards, have a number of restaurants nearby and are well equipped with shower facilities and sports equipment for hire.

The Algarve has a large range of hotels that are ideal for families. Many hotels have Kids Clubs which means Mum and Dad can ensure that their children are well looked after, and it is also a great way to find them playmates to share their holiday with. Once the kids are taken care of, Mum and Dad are free to take a well-earned break and spend quality time to relax and recuperate in the Algarve. There is plenty for grown-ups to enjoy: scenic walks, indulging Spa days, golfing on one of the fabulous greens or a day exploring the shops, cafes and restaurants.

The clear blue waters are ideal for water sports where thrill-seekers can find windsurfing, kite boarding, diving and jet skiing readily available. The Algarve coast also provides a haven for wildlife with the Ria Formosa Nature Park, home to a variety of species, situated between the beach of Anc√£o and the beach of Manta Rota. This area of outstanding natural beauty is ideal for hiking and boating.

For a more aquatic experience, you can learn how to scuba dive in the Algarve. With some of the cleanest waters in Europe, the Algarve is the perfect place to witness some of the underwater marvels that the Atlantic Ocean has to offer. There are a number of dive centres along the coast including Lagos, Faro and Tavira where you can learn to dive with PADI instructors.
